Thursday Knows It’s in the Details

Not always perceptible, but ever-present, are details that make our boots stand apart.

We know that going the extra mile makes a huge difference, which is why our footwear features a variety of small perks you might only notice if they weren’t there. The sum of these benefits amounts to a significant result, so we’ve decided it’s time to disclose those special, nitty gritty details.

Reinforced Eyelets

The eyelets found on Thursday Boots are one-of-a-kind. We use double-washer technology for durability, and to protect laces from chafing against the rough backing found on normal eyelets. This is an especially undetectable feature because the difference is internal, but if you’ve ever had the eyelets fall off of footwear, you know it’s devastating because there’s no sure-fire fix.

Single-hide Uppers

We don’t split our uppers. Many bootmakers split their uppers at the vamp, so that they don’t have to source hides large enough to accommodate the whole boot. Finding whole hides without imperfections is time consuming and expensive, but we think it’s worth it for a pair of boots you’ll wear for the rest of your life with proper care.

Slide3

Full-Leather Lining

Like our uppers, our inner lining also spans the entirety of our boots. Have you ever worn boots that fray or peel up at the toe? Plenty of bootmakers use fabric lining instead of leather in the toe, which isn’t nearly as durable and comfortable as leather’s longevity and softness.

Slide4

Full Leather Footbeds

Similar to leather lining that ends before the toe, many companies use footbeds that are only leather as far as the eye can see, when peering into the boot from above. Some companies go so far as to use a fully fabric footbed, which will truly fall apart within a matter of months. Our footbeds are entirely leather, heel to toe, so you won’t notice any clumping, fraying, or shifting.

DuraEVA Comfort Strips

Instead of using regular leather midsoles on our men’s boots, we use DuraEVA Comfort Strips, most commonly seen in athletic footwear. The DuraEVA Comfort Strip creates a layer of cushioning seldom found in leather footwear.

Slide6

Waxed and Kevlar Laces

We use two types of laces, waxed laces and Kevlar laces, and both have respective benefits. Waxed laces provide grip, so they stay tied. Kevlar laces are composed of the material found in bulletproof vests, which makes them extremely durable. It will be a long time before you have to go to the store with your old laces, trying to find a matching pair.
